Children of Fallen Patriots scholar Ian M. is the son of U.S. Army Chief Warrant Officer 3 Michael M., who passed away in 2007. When asked how others would describe his father, Ian says, “my mom says he was funny, loved making people laugh, very kind, and never met a stranger. He would talk to anyone and loved getting to know people. His kids meant everything to him and his favorite thing to do was to spend time with them. He served in Desert Storm, Bosnia, Kosovo, and Iraq and was a Senior Instructor Pilot and flew Kiowas.”

With the help of Fallen Patriots, Ian is studying Finance at the University of Kansas. After college, Ian plans on finding a job in International Trading in New York City. Ian is also involved in many extracurriculars at his college, such as the Alpha Sigma Phi fraternity, the Rock Chalk Investment Club, and intramural sports. In September 2023, he attended the NYC Symposium with Fallen Patriots where he engaged and networked with finance professionals in the city.

When asked about how Fallen Patriots is impacting him during his time in college, Ian says,

Children of Fallen Patriots has been nothing but good to me. At all times I have been able to get in contact with someone about my schooling, scholarships, and even just a nice person to speak with. They help pay for my tuition and always have someone happy to help me on the phone, or through an email. They have helped
me look into internships, set up a resume, and get connected with other college kids like me.

The vision of Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation is to ensure that every such child necessary college funding. Approximately 25,000 children have lost an active-duty parent during their term of military service. No centralized database exists of these families, and as a result, children who are eligible for our support can be missed. If you are a part of, or know of such a family, please reach out to us to see how we can support the need for educational funding.
