Kelsi Johnson is the daughter of U.S. Army Specialist Geoffrey Golden Johnson.  “My dad was extremely selfless and was always looking for ways to help the people around him,” she explained.  “I knew he was not going to fight in the war because he was scared of what was in front of him, but because he loved what he was leaving behind.”

With the help of Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation (Fallen Patriots), Kelsi is studying Families Studies at Weber State University.  She plans to go into the field of therapy/counseling to help others overcome hardships and reach their full potential.  “I have always had a passion for helping others and when I took my first human development class, I fell in love with the field and knew it was what I wanted to do for the rest of my life.”

Kelsi believes her dad would be proud of the person she is becoming.  She strives to be kind and caring to all those around her so she can make the same impact he did.  “If my dad knew how hard I was trying to serve and take care of other people, he would smile and know he raised me right.  Kelsi credits Fallen Patriots for helping make it possible for her to chase her dreams and follow in her father’s footsteps.

There are approximately 20,000 children who have lost an active duty parent in the military over the last 35 years.  The vision of Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation is to ensure that every such child receives all necessary college funding.
