Gift supports college scholarships for military children who have lost a parent in the line of duty

NEW YORK- The Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation (“CFP”) is pleased to announce that Michael and Kristina Gabelli have made a $25,000 donation that will help provide college scholarships for military children who have lost a parent in the line of duty.

The CFP was founded in 2002 by David Kim in memory of Sergeant William Delaney Gibbs who was killed in action during Operation Just Cause in Panama in 1989, leaving behind a wife and young daughter. Mr. Kim served alongside Sergeant Gibbs in the Operation and was inspired by his sacrifice, never forgetting about Sergeant Gibbs’ sacrifice or his daughter. The CFP is dedicated to serving the families of service members from all branches of the armed forces who have died as a result of combat casualties, military training accidents, service-related illnesses, suicide, as well as other duty-related deaths as ruled by the Department of Veterans Affairs.

“Kristina and I were very moved by the CFP’s mission after attending a fundraiser for the organization in Connecticut this year. It is an incredibly worthy cause, and we wanted to contribute in any way we could to help these children obtain financial assistance for their college experience,” said Michael Gabelli.

“We are grateful to Michael and Kristina for their generous donation. We remain honored by the support of the thousands of individuals and companies across America who have answered this call to support Gold Star families,” notes David Kim, co-founder and CEO of Fallen Patriots. “Not every patriot wears a uniform, and we are deeply grateful to all those who are rendering this important service to our military and their families.”

The CFP helps bridge a $32,000 funding gap between government assistance programs and the cost of a four-year college degree. In addition to financial assistance, many surviving military families are comforted to receive emotional support from CFP’s Veteran and Gold Star staff members.
