The Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation in Reston, Virginia, has announced a $5 million grant from the A. James and Alice B. Clark Foundation — formerly the Clark Charitable Foundation — to provide scholarships for the children of military personnel who have lost their lives in the line of duty.
The grant includes nearly $1 million to address the college debt of children who have lost a parent as a result of a combat casualty, military training accident, service related-illness, suicide, or other duty-related death, while the remaining funds will assist approximately two hundred and fifty students currently enrolled in college. Since its inception, Fallen Patriots has provided more than $17 million to eight hundred and forty-five college students and has helped three hundred and thirty-five students graduate from college debt free.
"This very generous gift bears witness to the tremendous patriotism of the Clark family and their desire to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country by caring for those they loved most in the world — their children," said Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation co-founder and CEO David Kim. "I could not think of a more fitting way to honor our fallen service members, and all of us at Fallen Patriots are very grateful."
